SORBUS aucuparia

Rowan is a graceful 10 m tree with fern‑like leaves that colour orange‑red in autumn. Creamy spring flowers yield clusters of brilliant red berries, a feast for thrushes. Grows on acidic or limestone soils, hardy to −40 °C and wind‑tolerant. Prune only damaged limbs; ideal for wildlife‑friendly gardens and mountain climates.
