Pineapple guava is an evergreen shrub 2–4 m bearing edible green fruit with sweet, tropical aroma. Waxy grey leaves have silvery undersides, and exotic crimson‑stamen flowers appear in early summer—petals are edible too. Self‑fertile cultivars crop in Mediterranean climates but need winter protection below −8 °C. Grow in full sun, acidic sandy soil and prune after harvest to open the canopy for better ripening.
