CYCAS revoluta

Sago palm is not a true palm but an ancient cycad forming a slow‑growing trunk to 2–4 m topped with stiff, glossy pinnate leaves. New fronds unfurl in a dramatic cone once or twice a year. Dioecious cones appear on mature plants. Needs full sun to bright shade, gritty, well‑drained soil and minimal water; hardy only to −5 °C but makes an excellent patio or indoor specimen in cooler regions. All parts are toxic if ingested.
