CINNAMOMUM camphora

Camphor tree is a broad‑crowned evergreen up to 15–20 m with glossy, aromatic leaves that release camphor fragrance when crushed. New growth flushes pink, maturing deep green and turning gold in colder winters. Small yellow flowers in spring are followed by black berries relished by birds. Hardy to −5 °C, it prefers full sun, fertile, well‑drained soil and warm microclimates; excellent as a street or shade tree in frost‑free regions.
