Sasanqua camellia blooms in autumn and early winter with single to semi‑double flowers, often rose‑scented, in hues of white, pink or red surrounding bright yellow stamens. Faster growing and sun‑tolerant than C. japonica, it forms a dense shrub 3–4 m that can be espaliered or clipped as informal hedge. Acid soil, good drainage and summer moisture during bud formation are essential; light prune after flowering to shape.
