ARALIA japonica

Japanese aralia is an evergreen shrub 2–3 m tall with huge, glossy, palmately lobed leaves up to 40 cm across, giving instant tropical impact in deep shade. In late autumn, creamy flower umbels rise above the foliage followed by black berries. Tolerant of pollution and salty winds, hardy to −10 °C; grow in containers for winter protection in colder areas.
