The Chinese kiwi vine is a vigorous twining climber able to cover 9 m of trellis. Bronze young leaves mature green, then drop to reveal peeling bark. Dioecious plants bear fragrant white flowers in early summer; female vines set fuzzy brown fruit rich in vitamin C. Full sun, fertile moist soil and strong support ensure heavy crops. Winter pruning maintains the framework, and summer tipping increases fruit size, delivering lush foliage, scent and nutritious harvests.
