RHAPHIOLEPIS umbellata Ovata

R. umbellata ‘Ovata’ forms a slightly larger mound (1.5 m) with broad, rounded evergreen leaves and profuse white flowers in April that perfume the air. Attractive purple berries persist into winter. More cold‑tolerant (‑12 °C) than R. indica, it thrives in full sun to light shade and any neutral to acidic, drained soil. Clip lightly after flowering to keep a dense, bird‑friendly shrub for seaside or urban landscapes.
