Pomegranate is a multi‑stemmed shrub 4 m bearing scarlet trumpet flowers followed by leathery red fruit rich in antioxidants. Glossy leaves turn yellow in autumn. Full sun, fertile, well‑drained soil and hot summers needed for fruiting; hardy to −10 °C. Prune light in late winter to open centre and remove suckers.
