Green privet is the classic, fast hedge plant, clipping into dense walls 2–4 m. Semi‑evergreen, it produces sweetly scented white flowers if left untrimmed. Highly tolerant of pollution, shade and drought, it thrives almost anywhere. Plant 45 cm apart; trim monthly during summer for formal lines. Hardy to −20 °C.
