Bisset’s bamboo is one of the hardiest running bamboos, forming dense screens of straight, dark green culms up to 8 m. Evergreen leaves stay lush through winter, giving excellent privacy and windbreak. Hardy to −24 °C, it grows in sun or part shade and urban conditions. Use root barriers or mow new shoots to confine its vigorous rhizomes; little watering once established.
