The Nordmann fir is a stately evergreen conifer prized both as a landscape specimen and as a premium Christmas tree. Its dense, pyramidal crown bears glossy dark‑green needles with silvery undersides that are soft and needle‑retentive. Slow to moderate in cultivation, it reaches 10–15 m in gardens (up to 60 m in the wild) and produces upright, cylindrical purple‑brown cones. Hardy to –30 °C, it prefers cool, moist, acidic soils and tolerates partial shade and urban pollution.
